How to make something "un-cute": (January 21, 2007)

One of my Christmas gifts from my mother this past holiday was one of those ring holders that you're supposed to keep near the sink to lessen the chances of your precious finger ornaments tumbling down the drain. This one in particular was extremely cute. It was a stainless steel cat with rhinestone eyes and a long tail, which serves as the ring holder. It has sat unused near my bathroom sink for nearly a month now due to the fact that my OCD usually commands that I put all of my jewelry back in it's "proper home" inside my jewelry box. The other night, however, I was about to remove my rings before washing my hands when the thought occured to me that I should try out this handy and oh-so-adorable device. One by one, I dropped my white gold bands onto the kitty's tail, saving my snake ring for last. Something seemed odd. Then, after about 30 seconds of gazing upon it, the fact dawned on me that my darling trinket was no longer cute at all... for it appeared as though my silver cat had a horrible case of worms:

My rings are now back in my jewelry box where they belong. The End.
